  • Researchimg buyng a used Prado

    Hi
Brimhunter a Newbie here Location Rockingham W.A
    and thanks for the oppotunity
Am considering buyng a used Prado basically planning a trip to Gibb River Road in 2019
I am a complete novice with 4x4s so please be gentle with me lol
Budget is approx 30k i realise the vehicle i get may have high Kms on the clock
2 things im not sure about
would i be right that timing belt would need changing at 50.000 Kms ?????
and i have had a look at a few Prados but in my range it will be a dealer as ineed to get a trade
in on my current Hilux Ute
Not sure what model and year to aim for
my thoughts are to put a roof top tent on for my trip im not going to be going anywhere
mitchell falls but am confident in 4wd on sand and light 4wdriving.
Question is am i dreaming or is this possible at that price ,i have seen a few for around that price.
Be really gratefull for anyone to point me in right direction
    Many thanks in advance

I'm still looking myself. I don't know the WA market, but that is achievable with $30,000 here in NSW. it all comes down to condition and what you expect.

Happy to be corrected by others on the below.

Timing belt @ 150kms on the diesel. suspect petrol is the same.

I think it's 2008 or newer to avoid dash cracking

2011 up diesel I believe had some (good) changes to injectors.

So if you're ok with the 150 series, then 2011 or newer would be the go. if you want a 120, then the newer the better.
