  • Buying new Prado kakadu

    Hi Guys ,
am kind of searching for a new 2018 prado kakaku . Anybody in the forum has any idea what would be the ideal price can offer to a dealer.

I live in Vic , so far i got offered $81500 drive-away with mat and tinted window .

I was searing around for a month now and haven't seen any promotion for prado yet.

    appreciate your advise
    cheers Kakadulover

I got a 2018 Kakadu for $77K in Sydney with mats and tinted windows, but was a demonstrator with 3000km on it. I would think $81.5k drive away is a pretty good deal.

77k is a very good price . is that before Jul 18 built with a DPF switch on it?

Dealer said that Prado usually comes with privacy glass and doesn't need to be tinted again . is that true?

Should i wait until end of next month to drop the price ?

I'm in VIC too, I believe $81.5 is a very good offer if you are in Melbourne Eastern. At time we bought our VX (Jan 18), we were offered $82.5 for a brand new 18 KAKADU with all colour option, black rego plate, floor mat and full tank fuel. We couldn't get any less than $82.5k for a KAKADU, from almost all TOYOTA dealers in Melbourne Eastern.

We’ paid $73.5 for our VX, with colour option, floor mats, black no plate, tinted windows, towbar, full tank fuel. Put deposit in Jan, car was delivered in May.

I wasn’t too keen to go for either VX or KAKADU, my wife wanted “leather” interior, so yeah, happy wife = happy life. GXL with leather option just didn’t feel so right for us. By the way, we were offered a GXL with leather for $64k.

I was offered a GLX with 60k drive away price ( no leather option) . but i wanna go with a kakadu coz of the KDSS . I am aiming to use it latest 10~15 years so really dont mind pay extra 20k for a good 4WD .

Have you know anything about DPF issue ? whether the new models free from DPF ?

DPF is a known issue with modern Diesel engines, our VX does an auto burn every 300km. We drive our Prado 70% on highway, and 30% in heavy traffic. So I’m not too sure the above interval is the right figure or not. An auto burn will take 20-40 mins depending on driving condition. I’ve driven lots of diesel cars and trucks, they more or less have had DPF issues. A clogged DPF was caused by a failed auto regeneration, it would be fixed by a manual burn(force regeneration, manual burn button is available now, I guess), or some cases like a blocked 5th injector, it would have to be checked by dealer or mechanics and fix it, then that’s the thing we can’t really control. What we can do is to try to make sure every auto burn is well completed and look after the car well.

I also drive 60km everyday over highway for work . Hopefully wouldn't have any DPF issue .

Yeah, I was preferred spending some money on accessories rather than a VX, Wife was keen to stay with leather trim as it was easy to clean and manage (we have kids, so that's the point we must consider). We've chosen graphite, as we felt it was an easy colour to go with black accessories.

KM wise, we drive the car about 500km per week, so far have had all auto burns completed during driving, no interruption of that process at all.

Yeah, hopefully we wouldn't have any DPF issue.

                      Thanks mate ,
Just got a call from dealer , the last price 81k with mat , tinted and full tank fuel . I might go and put deposit !!!!!

But he have no black in stock and i might have to wait few months to get the color .

I think 81k is not a bad offer ? Any suggestion ? should i wait till mid of next month to see further price drop ?

Yes, mine was built in May so it doesn't have the manual DPF switch.
It does come with privacy glass but it doesn't have any UV protection so I got it tinted as well.
