Hello all,
I've heard this is the place to come for all things Prado. I hope you don't mind my first post being a request for some advice.
I need to buy a Prado for my mother. We have always had 70 series landcruisers, but my father is getting a bit old and she is having to tend to lots of things on the farm by herself. My brother recently bought a Prado, she drove it and said she really liked it. So I've come here to see what you guys think about which one to buy.
Her needs would be: moderate 4wd capability, supreme reliability, some comfort (but coming from a 70 she won't be too fussed), some decent water fording capability, not fussed on electronic gadgets as there's no reception except I know she would like a reverse camera (could be aftermarket if needed), decent fuel capacity, definitely diesel.
The farm is an hour from the closest shop, 30 mins being dirt with the road sometimes washed away and rutted, and sometimes substantial creek crossings when the creeks are up. I don't really mind how much it costs, but I know she doesn't like the idea of new cars due to the massive hit in value once you drive away. Probably around 50k or so? Can be more or less. I think the main thing for her would be reliability. So basically a comfortable easier to drive 70 series sort of thing. I'm guessing she would appreciate an auto for a change too unless they're renowned for issues.
Thanks in advance to anyone wishing to chime in, I'd really appreciate it.
Kind Regards
Rob
