  • I'll have a look through the posts on the cruise. Mine would not resume after about 5 or 6 minutes even when only dropping down to 80 or so. It's petty I know but its a bit annoying having to reset it.

Just been down and put my Coopers on the Prado. Nice extra inch or so of clearance. So I will post a FOR SALE notice. 5 x Grand Treks. done 2350K's... (1 new).

How good is the economy

Hey Fazza, I have just done my official fuel figures for yesterdays trip from Pt Augusta to Alice Springs and the result is ( Drum Roll ) - 8.87ltrs/100km.

Now that is great economy and a brand new engine as well.

        • Congrats CJ!

I'm sure the wait was worth it. You must be a very patient man to be planning so far out in advance! Some of us (and I speak for myself), generally are too impatient and want instant gratification!

          Enjoy your new vehicle!!!

          • Seems there just may be a benevolent god kicking around after all. I called my dealer today and asked what was going on. Seems that the November Prado boat (forget the other stuff) has docked in Fremantle. "AND????" I said. "Your Prado is on the docks right now" came the reply! So I sat there and waited for the alarm clock to go off, or me to snap out of some daydream stupor! Didn't happen.... seems it is real!

However..... there's a catch. Seems there's a very real chance that on the day it'll be ready for pickup.................. I'll be in Tasmania. Yes thats right. Two events organized months ago that I thought could not possibly clash, now seem likely to do so. Ahhhhh Geeeeeez! Talk about typical! Dealer says that worst case pickup day will be early December. Apparently the Prado has to sit on the docks for around 2 weeks. Then they get it and stick on all the stuff I ordered. Considering I've got tinting to go on, clear paint protection coat, fabric protection, and additional underbody rust proofing I think that'll be more the mark. Now I'm also worried that If it's sitting there for a week while I'm in Tasmania, it'll be "test driven" umpteen times before I can get back and pick it up. I know for a fact that that yard has next to zero new Prado's sitting there for people to look at and test drive. I'm hoping against hope I can pick it up before I go away.

All those extras amount to one day at the most to be done, they only took one day to put reversing sensors, alarm system, window tint, fabric protection, paint protection, and electronic rust protection on mine. You may be lucky as mine only sat in customs holding for 10 days. I think the October people quite happily started with being told the 29th then the 26th and then some people started collecting them around the 22nd. So you might get lucky, I hope for your sake that you do and welcome to the club.

              Cheers

Ordered AUGUST 8th 2007 VX D4D Crystal Pearl, Ivory int. Delivery was meant to be last week, 1st NOV. Tracking says " Computer says Noooo!!!"

I hear one of the biggest dealers have 80 Prados on backorder and are only being supplied 9 per month. Toyota Japan need a kicking !!

Before Xmas delivery is out !! I am guessing Jan or Feb08. Any would be buyers should not sell their current 4X4 like it did. I now have to borrow a 4X4 for Xmas holidays !!

                    • Yeah Spara and Dwolbers, I know that sinking feeling you get when you realize your wait might be longer than you hoped. There were stories floating around that Toyota Australia were attempting to fix the short supply with a mass order for the masses. Seems that hasn't happened yet. Looking on Carsguide.com on the weekend for New Prado's, the search turned up zero new Prado's. Usually you get a couple. Also went to two Toyo dealerships near me on the weekend to look at some sovereign bull bars. Forget it. Very few Prado's to be seen, never mind the new ones. Ended up walking around Perth Airport carpark for a bit. Lots of nice Prado's there 8). Seems the demand is still right up there. A good few 2nd handers on Carsguide though.

Hrmmm thats interesting what you say about the clear coat protection Mav. I thought it would take a while for the coat to "dry". But obviously that's not the case so that's good. My dealer did say that 72 hours was the max turnaround for prepping any vehicle (even with everything) ready for the customer. I just assumed that was a standard figure and that mine could take longer. Guess everything is "quick dry" these days.

Geez Moto, I can only imagine with that issue you reported. Give em heaps for that! Thanks for the offer, but if you and Chippy got hold of it I'm not sure what would come back! It'd be well driven in, I've got no doubt.

There's no way I'm going to enjoy my week in Tasmania (1st week Dec) with the thought of my Prado sitting in the Toyo yard with people sitting in it and "test driving" it all over the place. No frikkin way!
