Hi Clifton,
The manual D4D drives like a dream. It is so quiet I have to turn the radio down to hear it purring. I am sure the tacho is there for the same purpose. Definately worth the wait. The gearing is a H config like most manuals but reverse is located on the left of first. When you select it, the car beeps. Similar config to a truck. The 6 forward gears are in H format.
Mate of mine bought the GX D4D manual with options 6 months ago so I was lucky enough to test drive his. The drive train is still the same, but the options on mine are better. He is now pushing his company to ditch his work missian flatroll and upgrade it to the best Prado they will give him.
Dealer I spoke to the other day said that about 80% of sales are D4D now and most are manual. Thats up our way anyway.
Just some food for thought......07 Prado GXL, D4D manual, silver and a fridge with constantly changing beer levels.

delivery delays affecting retail pricing?
Hi everyone, given the well documented delivery delays and high demand for D4D's. I'd be interested to know if this has affected discounting of the RRP.
When I ordered my VX 6 months ago, i got a $7000 off RRP and waited only 6weeks for delivery.
Now that delivery has blown out to 9 months does this mean an end to discounting or even a rise to RRP?2007 diesel VX BFG AT

I received my car in just over 2 months from order. I already received discounts through my employer so nothing was mentioned. Nothing was also mentioned about the upgrade package, however I didn't want any of that anyway.
The dealer mentioned that they didn't know anything about the upgrades until last minute. Prado point was more informed!!!
When I initially enquired, I was told there was at least a 4 month wait for a D4D.07 Prado GXL, D4D manual, silver and a fridge with constantly changing beer levels.

Conman,Originally posted by conmanDoes a new contract mean you go to the end of the queue? :wink:Originally posted by LaceyI emailed our dealer yesterday to request the new contract, they had written if there was a price change we would wear it. We are not fleet buyers, just "normal man on the street" buyers, the new price is $1 cheaper   !!!!!!

I've just had a postponement of delivery of my auto D4D - was to be this or next week - now 10/10 (order docs signed on 5/6). Supposed to be on the boat for docking on 27/9 in Perth.
Just a question to those that ordered the old build GXL and are getting a new build GXL - how much difference are your dealers/leasing people asking? Mine is asking $1101. The difference in the car is only the rear air cond ducting and audio controls on the steering wheel - i.e. no 'Option Packs'.
I don't want to go into the arguments about how I signed a contract earlier but now they are increasing price - seems to me they can do this easily.
I have seen an earlier post saying that it is now $1 cheaper - what are others experiences?
I have to sign the new documents in a day or so - so would appreciate to know how many people are being charged less so I may be able to argue. $1100 can almost buy me a diff locker!!Violet

Well well.... There's a boat docking on the 27th of this month in Perth?? I'm interested because if that's the case then my Prado, fingers crossed, should also be on it. Believe it when I see it though.
My dealer told me that the container ships are usually loaded around the 5th of each month in Japan, and that the trip to Perth takes 5 or 6 days. However, I notice others have been told more like a good 2 weeks at sea which seems more likely to me. I spent a while searching for shipping schedules a while ago but couldn't find the actual shipping dates. A further 2 week holding period on the docks has also been metioned, which my dealer said nothing about. It all points to late late October pickup at the earliest. More like early November.
Anyhow, apologies for digressing from the topic of the moment.# 2007 D4D GX # Full Privacy Tint # Flinders Red # 2 x HID LightForce 240 Blitz # ARB Winch Bar # Alloy Rims # Hilux Washer Jets # Stebel Nautilus Compact Truck Horn # ARB Alloy Roof Rack # ARB Dual Battery System # Charcoal Rough Country Canvas Seat Covers # Suspension:Autocraft Bilstein Shocks/Struts & Ridepro Coils # L.E.D Side Marker Lights # ARB Onboard Air # Pirelli Scorpion LT ATR 265/70's #--Custom 3"exhaust---

Mine hasn't specifically mentioned charging yet and wouldn't want to given the time it has taken to get.Originally posted by pluckermine didn't change, and the dealer mentioned that prices went up only by a couple of hundred dollars.
Did say in an email that he was surprised that the price only went up $480 though.OCt 2007 D4D Auto

The retail price of a GXL auto went up $500 I suppose it's up to your dealer how much discount they give you on that increase.Originally posted by VioletI've just had a postponement of delivery of my auto D4D - was to be this or next week - now 10/10 (order docs signed on 5/6). I also have it on good authority from Toyota management that the company will wear a price increase if the order was placed before the price rise.
Sounds like your dealer is either making a mistake or is trying it on.
Go to the dealer principle then if you have no luck go to Toyota head office and get the dealer to put the increase in writting.GXL D4D auto silver option pack 2 delivered 31/12/07.

Was told by the dealer I am placing my order though that the ship docks about the 10th and they generally get the cars 2 weeks later.GXL D4D AUTO Option pack more to follow & Camprite TL8s

This is how my dealer explained to me about the the price increase.
If you ordered you vehicle before there was any mention of a upspec model being released the price increase is usually absorbed by toyota.
If it was common knowledge that there was a spec upgrade coming and the dealer mentioned that you might not get the older model due to the delay in production then the extra cost is passed onto the customer.
As I specified that I wanted the new up spec model I cannot avoid the new cost associated with it.
