    • Delivery time

We have just ordered a Grande in early June. We were told by our dealer in Adelaide to expect a wait of between 6 and 9 months (just like a pregnancy!). We were also told that the wait is the pretty much the same irrespective of the model you order. This is because although the VX or Grande are more expensive and you would expect not as many would be ordered, Toyota apparently makes fewer of them. The waiting time is therefore about the same.

In the meantime, we'll go back to getting the nursery ready!

I am waiting on a TD. The dealer me advised that everyone seems to want diesel prados at the moment and that is why there is such a long wait, but if we wanted a petrol there wouldnt be a long wait at all.

So I've still got about another 2 months until I take delivery.....

          • Our 9 month waiting time in Sth Aust is for a silver ash Grande turbo diesel.

Bizarre how Queensland is so quick. If it was just transport from Japan I could understand why Queensland may be a bit faster. But according to Toyota track, we have not even got a scheduled production date and it has been a month already!

            • Toyota blames hefty price rises on higher steel costs and predicts market downturn

By MARTON PETTENDY 8 July 2008

TOYOTA Australia has blamed increased raw materials costs – chiefly the price of steel – for a significant July 1 price rise across most of its models.

While there is no price rise for the top-selling Yaris, Corolla, Camry or HiLux model lines - or the RAV4, Aurion or Prius - retail hikes have been applied to the rest of the range, including the LandCruiser, Prado, Kluger, Tarago, Avensis, HiAce and Coaster.

Biggest increases have been applied to the LandCruiser 200 Series wagon, flagship Sahara versions of which have risen in price by $2819 to $107,809 (for the top-shelf 4.5-litre V8 diesel, which previously cost $104,990) and by $2227 to $97,217, for the 4.7-litre V8 petrol variant, which previously cost $94,990.

At the same time, in response to customer demand, a sub fuel tank is now available on diesel Sahara and VX variants, but only when the moonroof and KDSS off-road suspension function is deleted, in which case the price reduces by $2648.

Other LC200 variants increase by $745 (the entry-level GXL 4.7, to $70,735) and $1338, for the VX 4.7 and GXL 4.5, which were both priced at $79,990 but now cost $81,328).

Meantime, Coaster pricing is up between $500 and $900, HiAce prices rise by between $300 and $500, Kluger prices stay the same at base level but increase by between $500 (KX-S) and $949 (Grande AWD), LandCruiser 70 Series ute prices lift by $500 across the range (which now starts at $54,490) and all diesel Prados are now at least $500 more expensive.

                        • Now I am about to lose it...... Another phone call today, looks like November delivery now, that will be 11 months, and thats if thats when i do get it.

Seriously thinking about pulling the pin on the order here in WA and placing another one in SA or the Eastern states... I have waited this long there is no way i am going away from Prado but it is starting to get rediculous. Any suggestions on what i should do?

                            • Re: the price increase....

I suppose this is what you get when the asking price for our iron ore goes up. Makes you wonder weather we really benefit from increased ore prices or not. Still, $500 isn't much really when you consider the complete price of the vehicle.

11 months wait is ludicrous! If that was me I'd be telling that dealer to put up or shove it! Something along the lines of "if it doesn't arrive this time then the deal's off!" Surely to god you'd get to the top of the waiting list after 11 months!

End result is monday i will be pulling my order here in WA and placing one in SA, just need to make a decision on waiting 4 months or taking one now.
