buying used Prado

How many kms would be too much, looking at a 2007 3.0Ltr Turbo Diese glx with 300k kms for $20,000. Feels a little high but wanted some second opinions.

Check the service history, when were the injectors done? They will be non DLC injectors if original so factor in $3500 to replace them... if they have been replaced, where were they purchased (Baileys, original toyota, ebay, remanufactured? etc)
check for signs of a cracked piston (do your research on how to do this)
does it blow smoke? what colour? At idle?

I'd suggest you take it to a mechanic that knows 1KD engines and have them check it out.

My mate was looking at the same for his daughter. Scored a pristine 2007 Petrrol GXL, 230k for $11500. If you do the sums in fuel consumption difference, he's a long way ahead and has better reliability. Interestingly he thinks the Prado is much more fun and better on the beach than his 2020 200 series.I know which way I would go, and I own a diesel.
