If you look at my timeline in post 48, Rov's email sounds like the one I got on 28 Apr. I suspect that Rov's order is not quite as advanced as he/she thinks it is. That said, if you read back over the posts in this thread over the past week or so, there's a lot of variation in times between order and build and delivery, and thus a lot of luck.

Note also that in the six stage process that seems to be implied by the emails from Toyota, the emails for steps #4 & #5 don't arrive. You go from #3 "the build has started" straight to step #6 "it's nearly at your dealer". Once the build actually starts it seems to be 5-6 weeks to delivery.

Well Today marks the first day of ownership of our brand new vx in silver.
It is a awesome piece of equipment.
from ordering to taking delivery it is just on 4 months.
which according to the dealer is around the average, although now their alotment has been pushed out to around the 6 months.

        G'day,
Saw a few people post their timelines for order so thought I'd throw in mine. I ordered a GXL back in April and got told it would be around a 4 month wait.
I never got any login details, but I've been getting emails from Toyota.
        16 April: Placed order
17 April: Email from Toyota confirming order has been entered
25 May: (5.5 weeks since order) Email from Toyota saying we're next in line to be built
20 June: (9 weeks since order) Email from Toyota saying build has commenced
21 June: call from the dealer that the ETA is mid August

I got a call from the dealer a few weeks ago saying our GXL will have BSM and RCTA, but they couldn't confirm if there were any other changes as part of the mid year update for the GXL. It'd be good to know exactly what the changes will be across the range.

Based on recent experiences, I think mid-August is a bit pessimistic given when the build started. I'd predict the beginning of August, but it probably depends on where you are and whether the ship makes stops before unloading yours, customs clearance delays, etc.

I’m really hoping it’s here at the end of July but I think the dealer is probably just giving us a worst case until it’s actually on a ship.

My order was basic one - GXL in white - so maybe lucked out. Will update next month when / if I hear more

Was told today by a mate who works at Toyota that there are certain colours ,including white, that they always program to build regardless of the order book, as they know that they will sell, while less popular colours may have a longer wait.

Cheers for that, after our first day we have done over 300 km and our first dpf burn was performed at 266-277 km

Southern new south wales. It was all highway driving varying speeds of 100 down to 60. Although when i spotted the dpf burn the graph only had 4 bars on it. And like I said it didnt take long.

Also There were no nasty surprises with 19 in rims in our car, still the 18s

At the risk of making some people envious, I got a call from the dealer today to say that our Kakadu is now ready to be collected. So that's 2 months and 23 days since order. Pretty amazing. That's the good news. The bad news is that this came as a surprise - the car wasn't supposed to even be at the dealer for four more days. So I haven't paid for it yet and probably can't manage the 3 hour each way drive to collect it until next week, Covid restrictions allowing. Still worth the 10%+ discount. Good luck to all those with outstanding orders.

Thx. I've been a bit coy about specifying the dealer, as I didn't want to cause any problems for them given the size of the discount they offered. Also I wanted to wait until I had the vehicle. But that's only a few days away now. Anyone who would be interested in saving close on $10K on a Kakadu (probably less on other models) from a dealer in southern NSW who managed to get me the vehicle in under 3 months can PM me for details. Communication with them was a bit patchy at times, but you can put up with a lot for those savings and that speed.
