What do you guys think of this, contract issue date 18/2/2022, GXL Dusty Bronze + premium interior, signed contract price $71,205.

Got an email today, apparently car will be built in June, new price is $77,335.71.

To say I am livid is a bit of an understatement TBH. Waiting 12 months over quoted delivery date is one thing, this being the first communication from the dealer and including an acknowledgement notice which basically says take it or leave it will do me.

How will reading the contract T&Cs tell me if a $6K price increase is legit? Will it provide enough legal cover, sure probably.

The contract says price is based on costs at time of signing, has the dealer price gone up $6K? As far as I know there was only one official price rise around a year ago of $2k well after the contact was signed?

Has anyone else had a $6k increase? I cut the dealer slack for not being able to deliver when they estimated, they don't make them, but this just seems like extorsion because what can you do after already waiting 15 months?

2K price increase is only applicable to the order after May 2022. Your orrder was before that so there shouldn't be any price increase. I ordered Dec 2021 and no price increase but vehicle price reduced by some amount due to change in Luxury tax bracket.

Like everyone said, read your contract to see if it allows increase of official price increase.

Only if it does, ask for a breakdown of the $6 k increase - I think there has been 2 price increase since feb22. Most likely you will see part of the increase is due to your going pass luxury car tax limit and the LCT now applies to new increased price, you can ask for a reduction of price so that it is just under LCT, or ask the new contract be signed after 1/7/23 when the new LCT limit applies and hopefully you come under that..

Toyota must be catching up on the order backlog. Ordered Prado VX White in Jan 2023, just got a call from the sales person car will be ready in October.

I amazes me that vehicle manufacturers take such reputational risks (quite apart from any regulatory and environmental risks) by having two sets of ECM software, even if they are(/might be) functionally identical.

I'm very disappointed, Mr Toyota.

Today I was told by the dealer that manufacturing of my batch is cancelled and now I need to re-register for a new model. I was waiting from Nov 2022.

I am glad that I was able to source and get 150 VX in the color that I wanted without any issues. Try to avoid first gen and also not a fan of new 250 design anyway. Also, now that according to new info, battery system isn't for driving. So, well, not gonna be missing out much either.

Could have been earlier if not for IT system upgrade and apparently, they have to resubmit all PO again.
