  • 150 Series 2010 - how many kms is too much?

Hello all, thanks in advance fo any help.
I am looking at buying a Prado 150, probably around the early years, 2010, as they will be cheaper, i hope!

As far as mileage goes, how many kms are too many? What is the maximum kms you would recommend looking at?

And of course any general tips would be great!

    thanks again!

Kms are not all the same. 100k around the city is probably the equivalent of 200k long open country drives. The reason is simple, stop-start, hot-cold, is what causes the most wear. Obviously hard off-road work and exposure to salt also makes a difference. There's plenty of 120s that are now into 300 and 400k, that run very reliably. So you can expect the same from 150s.

And then there is servicing, Prado's are reliable provided all the important things are done regularly.

The biggest ticket item that you might have to deal with is injectors. Late 2010 all came out with the upgraded injectors; however injectors are a wear item and something that you should definitely check. For a car that's done 200k those injectors have probably done around 600 million cycles, and ten years is a long time. I recently replaced mine, they were still in fair condition but the seat washers were on the way out. The whole job cost about $4000.

Also check the guards for cracking and around the rear door and under the bottom rear door rubber seal for rust.

I've seen low km Prados that I wouldn't touch and higher km ones that I would buy in a heart beat. In buying one you need to weigh all those things up. BTW, there's a youtube channel that gives a lot of good info on Prados, while he repeats himself and can be a bit long winded, the information is valuable in knowing what to look for
