I picked up my car today and have been told by sales person that current online spec is for my car (May build). He was not across why weight was reduced in the latest spec as Toyota did not inform them about that change. He reckons that Dec 2020 spec had typo which is corrected now as it is the same car.

I gave up asking. I'll fill up the tank and weigh it when I get it in a couple of weeks. Would be interested to hear if anyone else does the same.

May 21 build has 2990kg GVM and payload 562kg on front passenger door compliance stickers from factory. This means 2428kg with no luggage and no dealer options added.

I believe the figure on the Toyota.com.au site to be wrong for 2021 build and the upcoming 2021 minor change build also.

No need to weigh your car. What does the factory sticker state your weights are?

On my sticker gvm is 2990, max towing capacity is blank, payload mass (kg) has two figures luttle bit aside:11 and 534 below. It is not clear if these two figures are representing payload or they are something else.

Much the same on mine, collected three days ago. Towing is blank, and the two numbers near payload don't make sense, which in my case are 11 in a larger font and 370 underneath in a slightly smaller font.

Yesterday I topped up the tank and went to the local public weighbridge and got a kerb weight of 2480kg for my Kakadu. The operator confirmed that these things are within 20kg, so that's not exact. Looking at how the weight varied as I got on and off I got the impression that they only weigh in 20kg increments, or maybe 10kg. I was also told that these things are checked and calibrated fairly frequently, so they should be accurate within that sensitivity range. I was so shocked by the reading that I drove straight to the other public weighbridge on the other side of town ... and got the exact same reading.

Compared to the numbers from the two spec sheets in my OP, 2480kg is more than 2455kg in the Dec 2020 spec, and a LOT more than 2345kg in the March 2021 spec. 2345gk might be the tare, but that's not what the spec sheet says it is. It is what it is, but I was hoping for a bigger payload than that, given I can't get a GVM upgrade on a Kakadu.

If anyone else with a recent delivery has the opportunity to easily check their kerb weight, I'd be interested in hearing how it compares to those spec sheet numbers.

370 is very low. Do you have any Toyota fitted accessories such as a bullbar or anything else heavy?

This was a stock Kakadu, collected from the dealer only a couple of days before, with a full tank but otherwise empty. The payload is clearly not 370, nor 11. It's 510kg or thereabouts.

It's not clear what those numbers represent. There is a slightly larger gap between them and the "Payload:" field than you'd expect given the fonts used and the spacing of the other completed fields on that plate. That, and the fact that the towing field is blank, leads me to conclude that the payload field is blank. Those numbers "11 / 370" are a mystery.

I reported all this to point out to people that the only real way to know what payload you have left is to weigh the vehicle, rather than relying on spec sheets and plates.

I noticed that, but I have concluded the 2021 numbers are a fiction, at least for the Kakadu. The Dec 2020 spec sheet seems more accurate, unfortunately.

I just noticed that the tare weight specified on my rego papers for my new Kakadu is 2340kg. Makes you wonder how they managed to put 2345kg for the kerb weight in the March 2021 spec sheet, which was the active one at the time I ordered. July one isn't any better. The Dec 2020, which had a kerb weight of 2455 for the Kakadu, remains closest to reality, i.e. as measured at my local weighbridge with a full tank. Actual was 2480kg, although public weigh bridges are only within 20kg.

I gave up. As mentioned above, once I took delivery of the vehicle I weighed it to resolve the issue. Once you have the vehicle the weight is what it is, and not what you want it to be. Little point arguing with Toyota about the spec sheet, that seems like an efficient way to waste a lot of time and get frustrated.

The moral of this story is don't believe the spec sheet.
