  • 2004 120 Petrol

Hello there, I haven't mastered navigating the forum yet, so apologies in advance if I have over looked forum topics that cover my requests.

I have owned a 4.5 L 100 series man. Wagon 2002 for 16 yrs, more recently and currently a 2006 Nissan TB48 Ti auto low low kms. Very thirsty.

I'm interested in a GXL 4L auto approaching 300K kms
Cracked dash doesn't bother me, interested to know what mileage ppl get out of the sub n main collectively. It feels good to drive, looks like it may be using coolant, aircon not so cold (not an issue atm). Is there anything I shud be looking out for esp. that requires attn at 300K km service. Spark plugs? I'm lead to believe they have a timing chain not belt, do these require adjusting or replacing anytime?
Is there anything I should be considering maintenance of currently or looking for what it should have had done/replaced before now to check if it has. Two previous owners. Thanks in advance.

At that KM, General check over, check oil filler cap for sludge. Compression check if possible. Cracks in rear door near hinge were common, play in the suspension/ steering.

      I have a 2004 petrol approaching 300Km's
Can't fault it at this point, runs like a dream, other than electing to replace the suspension that was pretty soft (keep up the regular servicing).:-)

Is your dash cracked at all? What mileage do you get out of it Eddie? What suspension did you put on it and what petrol do you run it on E. Thanks.

2004 petrol GXL, Dash cracked , they all do it and even the replacement ones are known to crack. Mileage towing 2.2 tonne van- between 16 and 23 L/100ks, country driving at 110kph- 13l/100k around town- around 15. I fitted ARB 50mm lift mainly fro towing and it really improved general handling. as far as fuel always 91 oct

I have a 2006 120 GXL 4.0 auto, 185000km, no bull bar and 265x70 AT tyres on it. Highway driving averages 12L/100km, and around town I get about 14. Best I have done is 11.4, Wagga to Newcastle on the Hume Highway. I run it on U98, on the theory that I will get 10% more mileage with premium fuel. That’s the good news. The bad is that if I hitch up the 1.2 tonne boat, it drops to about 18L/100km.

Haha, moderate driving style and I got 18 around town and 25 towing a 2 ton van.
Lift, cage rack, tires, bullbar and snorkel didn’t help.
Great motor but definitely in its later years being 2004 model. I loved mine and would definitely buy one at 300K over a diesel at 300k.
As with all vehicles that age you will be spending money on it in some area, but no real common faults other than the rear door.
