New Prado options - keen on your thoughts

Hi all,

Im getting myself a new/almost new Prado VX. My options are -

1. New Prado VX white (delivery to Toyota end of Jan)
2. Or, used 2022 Prado VX peacock black with 20,000km on it, plus an ARB summit bar and Old Man Emu (I believe it's the nitrocharger one) 2" lift kit.

Price difference is about $6K.

Im not sure why but something is telling me not to trust the used one - nothing seems untoward and they have the info from ARB to support the accessories, but not sure about buying a car when someone else has chosen the suspension spec. It comes from a dealer. I might be being silly with my thoughts but keen to get peoples opinions.

Prado option 1 or option 2?

Nothing wrong with that suspension setup..About $5000 spent on it so get the same on a new one makes $11000 difference

For that price difference, and if you are going to keep it for a number of years, I would go new.

You don't pay GST on a second hand vehicle if purchased privately, you do if you buy from a dealer, so you are paying GST for a second hand car (if it is $70k, then you are paying $6,363k GST, $70,000 / 1/11)). If you are looking to save some more money, then buy second hand privately.

Also, don't forget, the new Prado is coming out mid 2024, if you are buying new, that might be an option for you ? Maybe ask the dealer how realistic the delivery dates are for the new one, I would imagine they are taking orders for them now.
