  • Soon to buy 120

At the subject says, I'm looking to get a 120 soon (January 2011). I've decided to get the Petrol Auto, probably a GXL or possibly a VX.

I'm looking to spend $30k (or slightly more) which seems to put me around 2003 to 2005 depending on kms. I see that the auto went from 4 to 5 speed at the end of 2004 - can anyone tell me if the extra gear makes a big difference?

    Thanks,

I've got a 2006 Disel which still has a 4 speed auto (that didn't change in the disel until the D4D). I wish there was an extra gear to drop 1st slightly and have an extra between 1st and 2nd and then push the others out a little. A friend had a 2005 diesel 4 speed and now a 2009 diesel 5 speed and says it makes abig difference.

      Thanks Nick,

I did see that the Diesel changed over later than the Petrol. Looks like I may be spending more than originally planned

Be interested in what any Petrol owners think.

      Cheers,

        Re: Soon to buy 120

In short if you get a choice between 4 speed auto and 5 speed auto - 5 speed would be the obvious choice.
However I have 4 speed auto (with Unichip fitted) and have driven 5 speed petrol auto and there are not much
difference to worry about. 5 Speed should have a bit better fuel consumption and a bit better torque low down.

Also have a look at the LPG (vapor injection system). That way you'll get Petrol power and diesel running costs

        Cheers,

        Stan
