  • Help to buy my first Prado

    Hi everyone,

I'm about to buy my first Toyota Prado.

I have $45000 to spend but it must be at a dealer. It also must be a grande.

What should I look out for? Which is better, petrol or diesel? Should I be too concerned about kms (I ask this coz I was looking at a 07 grande that had the newer diesel in it but had done 170000kms. This one has been sold now but need this advice incase I find something similar)

Is the newer model diesel something I should be sure to get? What gearbox? I would prefer auto, but I understand that there is a 4 speed and 5 speed auto??

Basically any help would be heaps appreciated. :-)

    Thanks
    dean
It's not a lie, if you believe it.

I would only go for d4d as it has much more grunt but u could be hard pressed to get a grande for 45

Why do u want grande and not vx or Gxl u have to way up if all the electronics are worth it
...If its not on all 4's it's not on.....
2008 GXL D4D, OME lift, arb bar, IPF 55W HIDs, HID headlights, duel Batteries, Winch, UHF, Safari Snorkel, bfg km2's, arb side awning, rola cage, engel fridge, kaymar rear bar(to fit)

I like the fancy stuff which is why I wanted the grande. I did look at a VX today but it was short too many things that the Grande has that I wanted.

Anyways, I have put a deposit on a 11/06 petrol grande. I am very happy with it in every way, and it was a little over $42000. Done about 114000kms.

Thanks mudboy for your response :-)
