  • 120 Grande Prices

Hi Guys, my first post here as I am in Market for my First prado.
Wife wants air bags for kids seats and I want a prado so in 120 Series its Only Grande with 8 airbags or 150 GXL with 11 airbags.

Diesel is far to expensive and I do not have a Camper Trailer or Boat. So Petrol is a Go.
Off-roading : Yes that is my excuse to get one and may be I will do some very light to medium off-roading.

I have driven few Grande's and they are beautiful to drive.

The only uncertain thing is their prices. We are looking Minimum 2005 or higher.

    I have following questions :

    1) Is $40K too much for a 2005 Grande with 80k - 130K?? Yes I have checked redbook and carsales but dealers and private sale both are selling at very similar prices with $100-$500 difference.

    2) AAMI is putting a 2005 Grande for $38,900 agreed value by default ( I haven't bought it just checked with them) and this is what Redbook Shows too.

    3) I have visited few dealers now and none of them is willing to take More than $1000 off no matter what. Its like car dealers have started like Harvey Norman or Good guys,i.e. In store price is $41999, but internet special is $39990 so its on Sale already. Has anyone been successful in bringing the price down and actually buying it.

    4) Is 2010 GXL (150) better than 120 Grande as usually price difference is approx $15,000 - $20,000.

    5) I saw RACV report of one Grande (send to me by dealer, report almost 4 months old with 90,000K approx) , the report was all Marked as Green = Go, but in engine section ( which was also Green) it has O = Observation , Mechanical Valve Noise . Dealer advised this is just an observation and they have put the car through full check and there is no sound. Is this something I should be worry about when checking the specific car.

Any input will be great as I am very actively looking for one.

    Thank you.

    Re: 120 Grande Prices

The 120VX had side air bags standard fitment as well.
Another option is a 120 GX or GXL with option pack 1 or option pack 2. This included side and rear air bags TC + VSC amongst other things.

    120 GX
Option Pack 1 (auto & manual models)
    ABS
    Cruise Control
    Leather Shift Knob

Option Pack 2 (auto models only)
    ABS
    CC
    Leather Shift Knob
Front Side Airbags & Curtain Shield Airbags
    VSC
    TRC
Dual Zone Climate A/C (GX V6 & TD auto only)
Rear Cooler, Seperate Controls & Pollen Filter (GX V6 & TD auto only)

Option Pack 2 (man models only)
    ABS
    CC
    Leather Shift Knob
Front Side Airbags & Curtain Shield Airbags

    120 GXL
Option Pack 1 (auto models only)
Front Side Airbags & Curtain Shield Airbags
    VSC
    TRC
    DAC

Option Pack 1 (man models only)
Front Side Airbags & Curtain Shield Airbags

All the items that the 120 GX has in the option packs that aren't listed in the GXL option packs are standard fitment to the GXL
I don't know how many 120 GX and GXL's were optioned by the purchaser from new but I am guessing somewhere in the order of 1 in 100.
You may find that some 2nd hand dealers would not be aware they have an optioned Prado in their lot so it pays to research. A easy way to identify an optioned Prado is the A pillar trim covers are embossed with airbag wording and the drivers seat will have a little tag on the side of the backrest.

Also how about an intro, follow this link

      Re: 120 Grande Prices

      Hi Guys,

      Thank you for your replies.

I have started looking for VX and GXL with option packs.

I am not hurrying into buying any more and believe that in/near June there will be more deals around.
