  • Chinese HID Driving Lights

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the cheap Chinese HID driving lights on eBay? I am after a new set of lights and was set on a pair of Light-force Genesis, then came across these Chinese knock-off's for about 1/5th of the price...

Has anyone used these, or similar lights and what have your experiences been?

I've got a set of the 7" ones..... probably should've looked at the 9" but anyhow they work great, the only thing so far is the lack of fine adjustment up/down. If u are lucky they will line up with no adjustments, but if not (ie move up one click its too high, one click down is too low) then u will need to make up some shims

          Brendo81 / rob_macca67,

They mention 'water Proof' but what is the IP rating on these if any? Is there any information on or in the box re this?

Also are the bulbs readily available in Australia?

While i can't comment specifically on these lights, i've noticed that a lot of the aftermarket HID's that have burned out/died have been the cheaper ones. Not sure if it's related to cheaper components or quality control. Just be aware that by buying cheap, you may pay more in the long run. Hope it all works out for you.

So despite being cheap inside, you'd still recommend yeah?

Yep I would recommend them I can see them lasting fairly well for me and at $132 for 9inch hid not bad I recon even if I replaced twice it still would be cheaper than the big brands some may not agree but it works for me

Sweet & like you say about the price... Makes sense doesn't it. Thanks for the recommendation, i know people will disagree but it's not always possible to do the big brands on a tight budget.

I think I have the same hidsbut in nine inch with the lack of fine adjustment as I have a black bar I just used a bit of thin rubber under the front edge can't complain to much for the price tho only $124 this way when I'm parked at the boat ramp if they get nicked its not going to bother me to much unless I'm driving back at night

Just brought a set of these 100w HID they seem ok and at $91.19 we will see. I am going to the Flinders Rangers and Lake Eyre in May that will test their build quality.

Be aware that over time they will take longer to come on initially.... well, that's what I've found at least. Once warmed up all good.....

Had mine on for about 2 1/2 years now and still working great. As Rob said they are now taking a little longer to warm up but only by 3-4 seconds or so
