    Sat 23/3 - Portable 2200W Generator for $299 :-

    http://www.aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_26092.htm

I don't know much about generators, not sure how good a buy it is.

There's more camping type stuff going on sale on the Sat as well, check out the Aldi site for details. As with all Aldi super buys get in early as they go fast.

There should be a specific Aldi forum..as well as fleabay finds. I posted up a GPS unit a few weeks ago.. giving members the heads up..luckily I got no responses....I did not need one. BTW I love Aldi, cracking Value 4 money, thought about doing what you've done but did not want to look an Aldi freak!!! Most(99%) of the camping gear will be sourced from China tho..can't beat the German sausages tho...

I know most Aldi stuff here comes from China or is sourced locally as generic house brands, the German reference harks back to their origins. I only posted because not everyone gets their junk mail or thinks to check the website for their specials. My only gripe with Aldi stuff is once the initial stock is sold you rarely see the item again and warranty support can be hard to get. But hey for a $3 shovel if it breaks just turf it, not worth the hassle to try and return it.

The nest of saucepans and cutlery roll might go alright to live in the rear drawers of the Prado.

Wouldn't touch Aldi with a 40 foot barge pole. The missus thinks they are wonderful, but the amount of food we have thrown out would more than make up for any imagined savings. Fruit is lucky if it lasts 2 days before it goes rotten. I've had canned food literally explode in the pantry at less than 3 months, whereas I've got Watties tins that are 3 years old and still perfect. When that happened, I discovered every can of of Aldi food was bulged. The mother in law bought us a dozen sand pegs before we went to Fraser last year. First night there was a bit of a breeze and every Aldi peg broke. No failures on the cheap eBay pegs though, even when they were carrying the extra load caused by the missing pegs. Just the other day the missus bought some bottles of fruit juice, and when she opened them discovered they had all gone off. She tried to return them, but their customer service is so lousy she gave up and walked out after waiting almost an hour. I think that episode has finally given her the hint that the place is crap.

And how they haven't been in trouble for bait advertising is beyond me - when they put a special in their catalog and it is all gone within 10 minutes of opening. My employer got reamed by the ACCC after one instance of an advertised special selling out after 3 days.

Just to balance the picture. I got the Aldi winch. Very happy with it. It came with a howse that I thought didn't fit. They happily sent an alternative and didn't want the original back - no questions asked.

It'll always have it's detractors. I for one would not want to be under the stars in an Aldi tent or a few of the accessories!! (S. Bags etc).
The Special BUYS (note the extra word) are limited as one off's..they are not part of its main estate (so not in the Coles sense "specials" but brought in especially for yearly events ..so you may never see them again. They are also listed as very limited so all above board.

Always found there return policy very good..one of the better one's. Just my 2 cents..don't work/not affiliated to them..don't want to start an Aldi good /bad thread!!

Bugger, I just ordered the drifta version of this for $260 delivered. Better quality I'm sure and also includes a collander and a smaller saucepan but then again, I could get 10 ALDI sets and still have change. Oh well, you live and learn.

My Aldi Bicycle Repair Stand bought for just $40 has been great, just as good as stands costing $200 or more. A bike helmet I bought there for $20 is just as good as the $100 jobs. I don't but a lot of their food products since they aren't exactly local to me but what I have bought has been fine.

I just posted the thread in case anyone on a budget is looking for those types of items, I have no other connection with Aldi other than as a customer.

I've got an ALDI camp kitchen. It's a good piece of kit. Much cheaper than the same item at Anaconda (who are also famous for having sales where the heavily discounted products seem to sell out in the first day, but are in stock again immediately on completion of the sale). I've downloaded the ALDI app for Android. It works well. We also buy the squeezy yoghurts for the kids. Much cheaper than Coles prices.

I bought that generator there selling this week 3 years ago and its still going strong.
its a little bit noisier than some but for the bucks they work great.

Just picked up one of those folding shovels from aldi today, haven't christened it yet but seems pretty sturdy, heavier than I thought it would be, and at $2.99 it's cheaper than a Maccas coffee.
