It's a big tent mate, heaps of canvas = heaps of poles, ropes and spreaders to muck around with to get set-up.
Depending on the type of camping you do and how many bodies you have to fit in will determine how much tent space you need.
The more dicking around in setting-up/packing-up the less you'll be inclined to take it away.

Sorry can't comment on the quality of the trailer. Wander over to myswag.org and check out the classifieds - plenty of locally made 2nd hand CT's their.
I paid slightly more than what you are preparing to spend on my trailer and are currently 30,000k's into an around Oz adventure, you've got to ask yourself if the quality is there in the one your friends are selling.

Symo - people will go on and on about price = quality etc. There's some truth to it, but the first thing I'd say is what are you using it for? Bitumen & the odd dirt road with the family? If so, then I'd say this is fine. I bought a no-name chinese camper for 3k because I was sick of the tent and most of my cash goes into school fees etc and I couldn't afford what I actually want. I acknowledge that it is not going to handle continual offroad trips though I have done quite a few. Corrugations will kill these cheaper trailers, but we've had so many good trips without too many issues that I would definitely buy one again for this same purpose. A few things to watch out for with the cheaper trailers include cheap gas struts on the tent base. Solution is to put in a pull out kitchen & drifter drawer box. Also, make sure you check suspension etc before you do trips that are going to test its limit. The tents can be big but this is something we wanted for a family. We do overnight stops all the time. We don't use the awning for these unless we absolutely have to, though our awning roof always stays on and when not used gets zip tied over the top of the tent. It realistically takes us about 20 minutes from pulling up to opening the kitchen and taking a seat. I bet you couldn't setup a tent & all associated gear (kitchen etc etc) that quick.

If you are going to do the cape, Gibb river Rd, extensive outback touring, I'd say NO!
If you want your first camper to get the family out camping etc, sticking to national parks & what not, I'd say go for it.

      Just my opinion though.
