How often do these deals come up does anyone know?

Just grabbed the feet I need from autobarn at 20% off, got them for $270, managed to find an autbarn with the ones i needed in stock so joined as an autoclub member to get the voucher.

Just need the platform now

The 3 bar set comes with the same feet and legs to suit the Pioneer Platform, but with the addition of 3 crossbars which you can sell, use temporarily until you find a good deal on a platform or swap between the crossbars and platform. It works out as better value that way.

autobahn normally let you order in and still offer the discount so you should have been able to order the tray in at 20% off too. thats what a mate did recently.

Waeco rep said he doesn't know how they do it, they must make a loss on it and that I should go buy it from them at that price (politely).

no-one makes a loss, the bigger retailers will all be on a rebate scheme and/or buying bulk lots and/or end of model promo's. They may even have better trading terms for the caravan shows (60 days instead of 30 days).

example: The retailer guarantees to purchase $10m per annum (only 200 units per store in the case of Auto-One) and Waeco sells them the stock at 40% less RRP. If the retailer meets this target, the retailer with receive a rebate of 10% (give or take). The math is simply a big win for the retailers head office (the individual outlet gets a little less margin but wins on cashflow) and the manufacturer moves containers of their product.

Waeco and manufacturers similar will never undercut the major retailers as this will put themselves into a venerable position against their competition and possibly lose that retailer if they can't make enough margin.

That's an expensive way to carry a spare tyre. Just place the tyre across the 2 rear bars and use 4 eyebolts and a ratchet strap.
