When i brought my platform last Nov, i was able to order it with the backbone system they did not have in stock.
I can't vouch for your experience at your local store.

Often it will be floor stock. It was when I purchased my Backbone system. But when autobahn has a sale, usually auto-one or similar will do the same. So I went to Autobarn and simply asked them to price match the other one, but they said they'd have to order it in. I said that's ok, but didn't tell them that the other mob didn't have it as floor stock either.
