        While we are talking Cairns,
I want to leave my camper trailer in Cairns while we are up the cape. Would you local guys know of a caravan park or storage company that would fit a poor mans budget?

Guys - I have now got confirmation from the handbrake that she can get about a month off in July 2008. As a consequence, the crew (aged 7 and 9) Deb & I will definitely be heading up to the Cape in July 08. As we only have about a month, we will be putting the Prado on a Roadtrain from Melbourne to Cairns, and will fly to Cairns and collect the beast there. In terms of timing, we will include the two week Victorian school vacation and add another two weeks - probably a week either side but we are flexible on that score.

While we are up North we, too, would love to catch up for a quiet ale or two with other PP's.

MT Pockets - we would be happy to swap itineraries to see if we can meet up in the North.

The beast is looking pretty good - 2" OME Lift (the car, not the missues), ARB bull bar, warn winch, air-lockers front & rear, UHF, sat phone, fridge & lots more. The only outstanding issue is what type of roof rack. I have been following the thread with interest.

              Hi Peter,
Thats a novel way to get to Cairns. Gotta save a week. I am looking at August at the moment as it fits into a lot of other peoples plans from another forum. However, I am very loyal to PP and would be flexable.
Which 4 weeks are you looking at mate?
We are looking at last week of July, all of August and the first week of September.

by the way, my wifes name is Deb as well.

I have had another look at dates of the school vacation. The vacation starts early this year - from 28 June to 14 July. It looks like we will head up at the end of June and be up North for all of July, heading back towards Melbourne by the end of July.

My number 1 tip would be to keep your camp simple and you will love it.
