I'd say the only 4wd'ing was dragging the esky across the campground to the beach

My first day back at work is today :*(.

Richo, as a long term near-resident of Straddie, what maps would you recommend? Apart from the 4WD outings, I'd like to chart a route for cycling and will need a good stretch of black-top for that.

          Hi

The only driving at this time of year is the beach and that was chaotic, so it was mostly walk the 50mts to the beach for a swim and watch the looneys driving their new fourby's through the water because they couldn't wait an hour for the tide to drop.

Also quite a few got $500.00 fines for doing this as the beach is closed 1 hour either side of high tide to protect the dunes.

The inland tracks, bar one, have all now been closed and that will change again in May as they move it to a National Park. This will also mean that you won't be able to take your 4 legged mate camping on Flinders Beach as well, so if any of that appeals get in quick.

See ya on the tracks, Richo. (Well the ones that haven't been closed)

Mate the good old UBD has all the bitumen on it, essentially there are three roads all starting at Dunwich, the one that goes to Pt Lookout, the turn off from here to Amity, and Tazi Rd from Dunwich to Main Beach that goes past Brown Lake, Blue lake and ends up at the causeway to the beach. These amount to about 50k's fo bitumen with heaps of hills to get the heart pumping.

I'll stick to the gravel and sand, Richo.

Matt, there's no round trips on Straddies blacktop... You'll either need a support vehicle, do return trips or do dirt sections along the keyholes track... (or Tripod track if you're a real glutton for punishment)
                Cheers, Leon
