Day trip out of Sydney suggestions

I am heading up to Sydney for the Christmas break, Goanna and myself and our brother in law to be who drives a Jeep ( yes going out with our sister ! ) are looking for a day trip on Monday 24th, any sugestions in or around Sydney, we are staying at the folks in Glenbrook so further up towards Lithgow or north out thru the Hawksbury river area maybe,

Any ideas out there from you Sydney siders and PeteS you fit the bill being localish :wink:

There is some decent tracks around the Lithgow area. One near the ZigZag train I have been told is great.

Yes, beat me to it Tim! was also going to post something up.
Years ago i used to own a Rodeo and did a trip around the lost city area which is up near Lithgow. It was great but can't really remember much about getting in there.

Fellas,

I just replied to a PM from speedcomm, asking what day you were talking about.

I can take you on a drive on the 24th if you like, just let me know what time you'd like to meet at my workshop at Clarence, near Zig Zag railway.

At the Zig Zag intersection, turn south into Petra Ave (opposite Zig Zag) and travel 1 km to a tee intersection, turn left and my driveway is about 200 m on the right (double gates, tarred entrance).

Its an awesome day out, challenging tracks, spectacular scenery and great company

... and this time of year the temperature might get up into double digits :lol: :lol: :lol:

If you go to the Zig-Zag railway and turn right past the timber mill you can head up to the Glo Worm Caves (take a torch). The road is easy, but you can always divert off onto the power line service tracks.

A nice day out was had by all - Speedcomm, 120GXV6 & BATriton.

We did Lost City, Beecroft Track and Gardiners Gap (same tracks, but opposite direction from last PP trip with Chippy).

Yeah, was a great trip mate! Thanks for your help! Tim and me are certainly going to have a another look around up there.

A question we had and forgot to ask, is there much in the way of camping sites up there?? or is it pretty where ever you feel like it??

Boiling Billy do a book called '4wd Trips out of Sydney' - well worth buying - some great spots, and route cards for all - each trip is written up with highlights etc
