  • Blue Duck via Dargo

We have just completed a 3 trip from Sale in Victoria up to the Blue Duck Inn (Anglers Rest) via Dargo. The trip was to show Brownie the fun of 4wd touring, this was his first time 4wding and his new D4D Prado had only a few hundred kays on it, so strict instructions were given - NO SCRATCHES, NO BIG HILLS and NO RIVER CROSSINGS.... so we set off and hit the dusty tracks, we stopped at a lookout and fire tower called the pinnacles, and whilst taking in the view I was asked what the track running down the side of the hill was called? when i told Brownie that was our next track he seemed a little worried but we assured his that gravity would get him to the bottom. We headed down Billy Goats Bluff Track which used to be a very challanging track but is quite a bit easier now.

This tracks drops 1200 metres in 7 Kms.
We then headed to Dargo for the night and had a great night at the DARGO RIVER INN, thanks to our hosts MATT AND SUZZIE...

The second day we headed off after a slow start (one to many RUMS) and huge cooked breaky from SUZZIE, we went over to OMEO via the upper dargo road and Berrigans road with a bit of criss crossing along some good spur tracks and even got Brownies feet wet, well only a little bit.

We made it to the Blue Duck and settled in to the creek to relax (it was 37 degrees) then tasted a few brews and settled in for the evening.

We all left and went our own way home the folling morning but a great time was had by all, now planning a trip to Birdsville this year for the races

Is it mostly a dirt road drive?? Looks like a great weekend getaway

Wonder if we have that sort of thing here in SEQ :?
      Cheers, Leon
There's no such thing as a wrong turn... it's just the scenic route!

The condamine run comes to mind, lot more crossings though, but mainly a easy dirt drive.
