Close but not quite. These were taken about 400 - 500 km north of Swakopmund in the Kaokoland area.
This area is also where you find the unique African dessert elephants, which you normally see on National Geographic programs busy digging for water in the dry river beds. 2005 was a very wet year, and now 2006 even better, therefore the water in the first photo (3 months after their rainy season). The 3rd photo is the normal condition of the dry river beds.Prado 150 D4D VX

Kaokoland was my next guess.
I lived in Swakopmund for a short while a few years ago. Twyfelfontein was as far north as I got in the Damaralan region. Would have loved to get up into Kaokoland but unfortunately did not get the opportunity. It was a bit to rugged and remote to take my company Toyota Camry.
