  • Brisbane to Alice Springs

We are heading off to Alice Springs in two weeks to see the inlaws and was wondering which was the easiest way there.

I have been looking at the donohue/plenty highway route.Does anyone know if it is worth going this way.Distance wise it is 500km less kilometers if you go the Mt Isa way but do you save any time considering the road may not be all that good.

We are going to try to get to the Alice from Boulia but if we dont make it that far do you have any recommendations on where to stay.

If there has been any recent rains in that area you would be well advised to go up through the Isa.

You can make that judgement call at Winton, just ask the locals there at the servo and they will be able to tell you what the conditions are like.
