Hi all, I am planning a trip to the birdsville races this year, we will be travelling from Adelaide up the Birdsville Track and be taking 3-4 nights to get there and then take a 1 night to get from Birdsville to Inaminka, then 3-4 days down to Mildura via Camerons Corner. Can anyone give some advice on good places to stop the night or things to see along the way or around the place, we will be having 4 days in Birdsville and 2 days in Inaminka. Thanks Jim

Hey Jim
see you there. Were heading up through camerons corner to Birdsville for the races, then down to the flinders.
Not exactly sure of our plans yet, my old man is doing most of the planning.Glenn

Lucky buggers !!! You have to stay at Clayton Station. It is about 50-60km from Marree on the left hand side of the Birdsville Track. Hopefully the homemade signs are still up telling you about it. They have an artesian spa, artesian showers and flushing toilets. When we were there, 5 years ago  , they had an honesty box. They asked you to leave what ever you thought the place was worth. We thought it was absolutely priceless, we put in everything we had on us! The sunset was breathtaking. A lot of eagles to photograph up that way too. Clayton Station has been my favourite camping place ever since we stumbled across it !

If you are looking for accommodation in Innamincka the homestay is great, Jeff and Julie will make you feel welcome. If you are interested in the role of the early exploers in Australian history check out Cooper Creek (Burke's Grave, Will's Grave and the Dig Tree) and further south at Tibooburra and Milparinka you will find lots of good stuff about Sturt.

In our last desert trip between 6 vehicles BFG ATs had 4 punctures and 2 sidewall slashes (looked a very thin sidewall) while MTRs only had 1
