Went to Mt Mee in QLD with our Prado and loved every minute of it. It is not as difficult as Landcruiser Park but still challenging and there is a great destination for the kids. Broadwater Day Use Area has a great waterhole and a stick on a rope rope to swing into the water. Even my 6 year old was able to do it. :P

Pradogang,
Have a look in the trip reports section for Mt Mee... I've included a few track logs from past trips.
The Dirty Weekends in SEQ will get you started in the area and the more major tracks are shown on the topographic maps of the area.Cheers, Leon

Re: Mt Mee State Forest
Lads, I went up to Mt Mee on Monday 27th July and to my shock, the EPA has blocked off access to several sections that form part of the Dirty Weekends Tour. The first surprise came when I first left the sealed road and headed in on the dirt. Just after several little creek crossings, the fence at the bottom of the first climb up the range (Winder Rd, I believe it is called) was locked shut with a notice stating that "Pest Control" was taking place. An included map gave hope, as access appeared to be available via Wirth Road (the access point available a little further back along Laceys Creek Rd) and then May Rd. Half way through this route, I ran into (thankfully not literally) a Bulldozer that was resurfacing May Rd. The driver assured us that the track was driveable so onward we pushed...
The new erosion drains (is that what they call them, you know, the whoop-de-doos they put in to stop water washing the track away) that had been cut in were at best large, at worst mountainous. Careful driving in my un-lifted GXL managed to tackle most of them but my poor towball (I had neglected to remove it for this trip) was given a workout and gouged several new mini-erosion drains! 2" of lift would have it all sorted. <insert begging scene from Oliver: "Please sir, can I have some more??"
After finally rejoining Range Rd, excitement was building as Jacky Creek Rd was approaching and then eventually past, then our hearts sank. Just at the top of the massive descents was 3 massive power-pole-thick bollards had been driven into the track!!!! A sign claimed the track was closed indefinitely and no reason given. Helpfully, they had included a phone number to call but obviously whoever drafted the sign had never tried to make a phone call at the top of Jacky Creek Rd. After much annoyance (how hard would it be to place a "track closed" advisory sign at the entrance to the forest) we decided we would try a few of the side tracks. We managed to find our way through to Diana Bath Rd and then onto A Break, so it wasn't a total waste.
For those out there who are considering Mt Mee for the first time or using the Dirty Weekends book, please try to find a decent map of the area or head off with one of the more experienced pathfinders we have on PradoPoint!! Leon, I'm looking at you...
Otherwise, it is a long and very disheartening backtrack... :evil:White '07 D4D GXL Manual, ARB Winch Bar, IPF 900XS Spotlights, BFGoodrich All Terrains LT 265 70 R17, GME TX3440 UHF, Safari Snorkel, ARB underbonnet compressor, IPF Fatboy Headlight Upgrade, Hilux Washer Jet Upgrade, Waeco 80L Fridge.

Re: Mt Mee State Forest
Unfortunately... I don't think it's greenies this timeOriginally posted by pradogxlv6Friggin Greenies !!!!!!!!!!!!1111
I have found the same type of crap occurring in our local National Park.
One example is what we refer to as Diff Break hill in Mt Mee... it was getting quite eroded with all the rain we had last year so the EPA blocked it off with logs/trees to give it some time to recover. Those logs were either driven around (ie. people made new tracks  ) or eventually people actually dragged the logs out of the way... and they were huge logs!!
So, what is the EPA to do... they put up a sign officially closing the track... that gets knocked over and driven around so then the only thing the EPA can do is to place huge, permanent fences at the top and bottom of the track
Diff break hill was the worst of the tracks (regards abuse) as far as I could tell but there are heaps of people driving around gates and signs up there... what else can the EPA do
Once again, a few people using the park with no regard for the environment stuffs things up for the other 99% of people who enjoy the forest.... responsibly.Cheers, Leon

Re: Mt Mee State Forest
I'm really trying to justify one of those VMS windscreen mounted navigators.... I did over 1200k's for a client the last two weeks and you would be amazed how many "no through" roads my iPhone maps tried to take me down :roll:Originally posted by UberSargeFor those out there who are considering Mt Mee for the first time or using the Dirty Weekends book, please try to find a decent map of the area or head off with one of the more experienced pathfinders we have on PradoPoint!! I'd really like to get some of my track logs onto a map based GPS one of these days
