  • Adelaide to Bunbury(WA)

I am packing up the Prado and heading west for New Years and a few extra weeks.

I will be packing up the wife and the 4 month old son. Can anyone suggest any places of interest as we drive across the Nullabor, and also some accomodation. We plan to make it to Streaky on the 1st night, then from there we are up for suggestions......

Lets just hope the little fella enjoys the carseat!!!!!

Thanks in advance for your help

Turn Left at Penong (after Ceduna) and check out Point Sinclair and Fowlers Bay.

Make sure to pack a sheepskin for the little one in the seat, and take plenty of breaks. They get real hot on long trips and uncomfortable, its not like they can say too much at that age either.

As TP said, turn left at Penong (85 or so km's west of Ceduna) and head down towards the coast. There's Cactus Beach down on your right, and another little cove that I can't recall the name of. It may be Point Sinclair, but Point Le Hunte or similar keeps coming to mind for some reason. A young boy got taken buy a shark just of the coast there back in the 1970's, so they built up a shark net so that you can swim there safely. It's a beautiful little place. If you keep going past Cactus Beach you'll find the place I'm talking about.

I also agree with TP on Fowlers Bay. Last time I went down there the road was corrugated to buggery.

Beautiful place out there, so you can't go to wrong whereever you stop. Enjoy, and safe driving. I'll be out at Ceduna for work this New Year, so I'll keep my eyes peeled for any Prado's sneaking through.

          Cheers,
          AJ

You have to stop off at the Head Of The Bight.
Wrong time of the year for whales but it incredible place to look out over the bight. The local Yalata Aboriginal community have built walkways along the edge of the cliffs and during the whale breeding season , normally winter as far as you can see are whales and calfs. Dont rush travelling over the nullabor as there is heaps to see.Best way is come in to perth via Kalgoorlie then travel back through the south west and Esperence.

Under something is best, just a sheet. They get real hot sometimes, you have probably noticed this when they sleep.
I did a fair bit of long driving trips and always make sure to stop every hour or two without fail to get them out and let them move around. Nothing worse than being trapped in one position.
We used to plan long drives around sleep times.
