  • Wildflowers in West Aust where and when

We are off with van in July and will be in the Broome area early august heading south Barn Hill/ Point Sampson/Coral Bay/Dongara/coolgardie and across the nullabor by late September/early October.

Just interested to know where is the best places to see the famous wildflowers and what time.

From Coolgardie through to Perth you should see some great paddocks of yellow and purple around Sep/Oct with the farming communities. Middle Swan through the Vineyard region should be nice too. Kings Park have a great gardens area and lots of wildflowers through the whole park overlooking the city.

      Thanks Golly,
Just wondered about further north where we will be spending most of the time.

In the Murchison area between Geraldton and Mount Magnet around August/September it is spectacular. Lots of colour all the way from the wildflowers. This is wheat and sheep country and you will see whole paddocks in full colour.

We went over to WA in September 1998 and headed north from Kalgoorlie up to Karratha and around the coast back to Adelaide and my main recollection is hundreds of Sturt Desert Peas everywhere, My wife went crazy with the old camera on these. They where really vibrant in colour.
