  • Trip Preparation - my trip in July!

    Gday folks,
am sitting round on a saturday arvo making a few plans for a trip in July. My brother will be riding his motorbike, me following in the 90. Its just an excuse to catch up, see some places we lived when kids and take a trip. He has a safari tank so could probably do it on his own but ill carry a bit of fuel and spares just in case, and i had to have an excuse to come along  Ill admit it this post is just as much to ask questions as it is to let someone else know im going,i think my wife (who is staying home) is sick of hearing about it!)

Im making a few notes about where to go, what to take etc and i just thought id throw it out to the forum.
As a bit of background; We wont be too remote, meeting in Broken Hill, heading north via Mutawintji nat park, Camerons corner, Haddons corner, Birsdville, cut accross the simpson down to Lake eyre, Flinders and back to Broken Hill.

Ive had some work done on the Prado recently and will look at getting a service before leaving, but what do people take with them in the way of spares? People say "belts, hoses, oil" etc. Is this just fan belt and radiator hose?

What about the Simpson, we thought we'd just cut down from Poepells on the K1 line, but are considering heading a little further west, just for a sticky beak, and travelling what i think is the rig road. Is this worthwhile? We dont want to tackle a crossing just yet, but maybe in years to come......

I could go on forever asking questions but ill open it up to you guys to throw your suggestions regarding trip preparation my way.
