  • N'Dhala Gorge, East MacDonnells

While attending the PP GTG in the Red Centre, my family and I decided to pay a visit to N'Dhala Gorge in the East MacDonnell Ranges.

This lovely place is located about 12km from the Ross River Homestead itself. The drive in is very scene and quite easy. There's a few dry riverbed crossings, however, these are no problems. The rock formations are spectacular and very pretty.

At the Gorge carpark we were joined by Yota - who also wanted to see this place. From the carpark area, you make your way along a lovely track mostly formed by dirt tracks.

There's about 5 points of significance along the way, but heaps of petroglyphs around if you just keep your eyes peeled for them. Some are pretty obvious and pointed out by the interpretative signs, but others are less obvious. Once your eyes are accustomed to what you are looking for, they start to jump out to you.

Our children loved the walk and adventure and looked in wonder at the rock carvings trying to work out their stories and interpret their meanings themselves.

On our way back to the carpark, I also got to meet LFaR - nice to meet you!

If you get the chance, this is a wonderful spot to visit.
