Yamba - Blue Dolphin Caravan Park?????

HI All,

I was watching an old Getaway program on Monday and they had a segment on the Blue Dolphin Resort/Caravan Park which looked like a brilliant place to spend a week with the family. I was wondering if any of our members had stayed there and if they have what was the experience like?

We stayed there about 4 years ago Mav, loved the place.
Plenty of things to keep the kids busy and they had free jet boat rides for the kids as well.
Only downside was that we had a pearler of a storm come through one night and because we were camping below a slight incline, the water came down in waves and flooded our tent and the wind ripped peoples tarps away.
Good bream fishing to be had along the rock walls out in the river too and flathead on the sand beds.
Yamba is a lovely town as well and a trip to Angourie is well worth it also.

Hey thanks Dobbo, it looked really good on the telly which got me thinking about taking the family there for a break, I need to get away now and then. :lol: :lol: We are heading to NZ in Feb 2010 for a week so I am thinking of maybe tacking on a week at Blue Dolphin after that.

Blue Dolphin at Yamba is a get place ,try to avoid school holidays if you can because it becomes very crowded.

Great place and fantastic for the kids. (we have a 5 and 2.5)

We took our camper trailer and set up on an en-suite site, really clean and well maintained.

Would be an easy place to spend a couple of weeks. Right on the Clarence river so easy for a spot of fishing and a swim. Yamba is also close to some great national parks and beaches that are OK for four wheel driving and fishing.

If you don't catch any fish the seafood co-op just before McLean had the pick of the seafood.

This is one of those special places that we will be going back to.

mav i stayed there about 12months ago and it was a top place, lots of stuff for the kids to do and out the front it also had a good kiosk and take away shop, and there is a top pub on top of the hill, great feed and a view of the coast that goes for miles, but good luck getting in there, during school holidays they want a minimum 7 day stay, and you have to book in almost 12 months in adavnce

Agree with all the above, we stayed at the Blue Dolphin pre Prado days and it was a top spot for families. Heaps for the little ones to do, although ours were a bit small back then.

Used to stay at Blue Dolphin with a few other families and a tribe of kids....Great spot and highly recommend it for families but as the other posts say, very busy in school holidays and can get a bit expensive (Yamba prices seem 2 be seasonal and depend on if you are a tourist or local). Another great spot is Park Beach Caravan Park at Coffs. Absolutely brilliant and a heap of pubs and clubs nearby for the cleansing ale or 3. Walking distance to Porpoise Pool and marina etc. Great 4 wheel driving at coffs and really helpful crew at Coffs TJM. Hope this helps...
