TRACK CLOSURE IN WOMBAT STATE FOREST (8/12/2009)
We have been advised that there has been a unlawful major chemical dump of Arsenic contamiants on the Gibbs Access Track in the Wombat State Forest.

This is deemed to be a life threatening situation which is being attended to by DSE as we speak.

We would ask people to keep clear of this area until further notice.

Please advise everybody of this urgent matter.

It's a bloody disgrace what some people dump in our parks, and they think that it is ok to do this.
I bet they wouldn't like it in their backyard! I simply don't understand this dangerous/stupid behaviour.

This will certainly put another nail in the coffin for public access to our parks.

It sounds to me like a business that does not want to pay the fees to get rid of toxic waste so they have dumped it in the park probably in the 2am timeframe. I would be looking at businesses in the area that use these chemicals for whatever reason.

Backing onto Lerderderg/Wombat, this really annoys me. It wasn't that long ago that some scum bag stole a truck and took it up there to strip down. They left a huge mess and diesel and oil spill for DSE to clean up.

At least I haven't heard of any stolen cars getting torched in there for a while. Touch wood we don't get one this fire season either.
