I hope it was no one from this site but we were up at Stockton Beach yesterday, there was crap everywhere   . I understand there was a big storm on saturday night with 90k winds etc but does not excuse leaving, poles from tents, awnings, tarps, empty bottles, empty cans of beer, soft drink etc, you name it,it was left behind, disposable nappies even. No wonder they are shutting things down and stopping 4wdriving :x :x Then there were the clowns who were absolutely screaming over sand dunes with no idea of what was on the other side. Luckily my mate who saw a 100 series t/d coming flat knackers towards the top of the dune and had all intentions of flying over the top, Had my mate not stopped him at the top of the dune where we were he would have for sure without a doubt nose dived the other side on his way down and would have possibly killed some one it was nearly a vertical drop. If you are reading this and it was you don't complain next time they shut down a place due to the rubbish :x :x ................Regards Steve

Re: Stockton beach, What a mess !!!!
Whether fishing, camping or just 4WDing I'm always dismayed to see this sort of thing. How hard can it be to take away what you bring with you or conduct yourself with a modicum of respect for others & the location??? As you point out Steve it makes it so much easier for the shut-it-all-away brigade to push for new legislation or local zoning to keep decent people out of our own natural heritage. I'd like to think that decent people are still very much in the majority though...

Re: Stockton beach, What a mess !!!!
ive been going to stockton beach for about 25 years now, and it is slowly getting worse, the rubbish left behind is just disgusting, and there r more dickheads driving on the beach than ever before, i wouldnt be suprised if 1 day national parks just close it to all vehicles, ppl just need to take their rubbish with them, especially glass bottles, and yeah when a big NE or southery blow it uncovers a lot of old rubbish and just make it worse, ppl need to be educated on how to look after such a lovely place, as for ppl driving like dickheads there aint a lot we can do as individuals, we can just do our bit by sticking to the rules and staying clear of dickheads, lavis lane is also good for ppl driving on with road pressure in their tyres and especially in softroaders, when will ppl learn that lavis is for proper 4wds and buribi point is for softroaders. i will let you know what happens tomorra as i m heading up for Australia Day, no doubt i will see a few things. cheers samohad an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

Re: Stockton beach, What a mess !!!!
We might be heading out there today. It a common thing out there, as half the people don't give a toss and leave all sorts of rubbish out there, mainly empty bottles. MOst of the people are these young yobbo idiots that carry on about 'aussie pride' & really don't give a shit or have any respect.2000 Toyota Prado GXL- Gone, but not forgotten...

Re: Stockton beach, What a mess !!!!
It's always possible if you have room, to take some garbags to pick up some of the rubbish ( well maybe not the nappies ) and bring it out.
If everyone did that it would help keep it cleaner.
We have a similar problem with vandalism and rubbish left in the High Country here in Victoria. However we have found that there is a "tipping" point where the problem escalates at an exponential rate. In other words, after a certain amount of rubbish and graffit is left, people think it is the "norm" so leave their's as well.
Most of us will pick up rubbish found at campsites/huts etc and bring it out. Parks/DSE here just don't have the capacity to handle it.
I also wouldn't hesistate to take license numbers of people doing the wrong thing and report them to Parks or EPA. In Vic they will send them a fine, not sure in NSW.
But there will always be those that don't give a hoot and ultimately spoil it for everyone.Cheers, Wayne

Re: Stockton beach, What a mess !!!!
unfortunately rubbish left behind seems to be a problem everywhere, i made it a policy a few years ago that whenever we camp somewhere i will try and find at least one piece of someone else's rubbish and take it away. i am sad to say that even in the most remote spots i never have trouble finding rubbish. last week on our way back from the high country we camped by the river murray and i collected over 100 empty cans and bottles and didnt walk further than 50 metres from our campsite.

Re: Stockton beach, What a mess !!!!
This type of thing constantly amazes me. Don't get me wrong, I lived in London for 21 years, so I've seen plenty of garbage on the streets...!
We're pretty lucky in Victoria as many places are still accessible, but I wonder how much longer. I've seen whole trailer loads of crap dumped in the bush. Last year the south bank of the Murray, near Echuca, was a dump. And then there's my real pet peeve - glass bottles thrown in fireplaces. It might change shape, but it sure as hell isn't going to burn. Doh...

You will be happy to know that we went up to stockton this week, (last time was 10 yrs ago), and there was very little rubbish around. The only reason for this may have been as it was mid weekPrado GXL - 2" TJM Lift , Roof Rack, ARB Deluxe Bar, Ironman 12000lb Winch, Ironman HIDs, Simoco Radio,Cargo Barrier, dual battery

Re: Stockton beach, What a mess !!!!
With Lavis lane being closed over the past few months and the amount of wind shifting the sand recently, im not too surprised that there isnt much garbage around. I get onto Blacksmiths beach mostly, and the garbage isnt too much of an issue there except for where the sand meets the end of the dirt tracks, they are dumping grounds for all kinds of crap and burnt out cars.
