  • Anyone able to recommend a book with 4wd trails

    Ive been hunting around the shops the last few days trying to find any books that have details on all the different 4wd trails, especially ones that are within driving distance of Sydney (Newnes, etc).

    As mentioned, I cant find anything in any of the book shops ive checked in, so I thought id ask the question here to see if anyone has a book/guide they would recommend?

    Ryzz

    I have a Gregory's 4WD Australia -Second edition (Same mob that do the street directory)
    It is written by Ron and Vic Moon. Great maps and trips throughout Australia.
    There is also another Gregory's publication 4WD Weekends by John and Jan Tait. Included 48 trips in and around eastern Australia.
    Hope these help.

      Whilst not specific to the area you're after; three good general trip guides;

      Australia's Top 4wd Getaways; by Craig and Cathy Savage,

      Explore Australia by 4wd; also by Craig and Cathy Savage (Explore Australia publications),

      4wd Australia, 50 short getaways; by Linda Rathbun and Steven Miller (Gregory's publication)

          hey Ryzz
          alternatively you could join a 4wd club. They will show you the right places and also get you access to places that only they are (legally) permitted.

            I don't know about Sydney, but over here most camping shops (ranger camping etc) have little books with 4WD trails. We have one that is called 4WD day trips. It has heaps of trails close to Perth that can be done in a day.

              We took both Ron and Viv Moon's and the Savage book on a big trip last year.
              Used both in combination they are very helpful.
              Cheers, Wayne
