  • An American off-roader in the land of OZ: Part II, Cape York

    PP'ers,

I know I can't make it out for the GTG '10, butI had an opportunity to help a good Mate out with a project so I'm heading 'down under' again to step up and lend a hand. I have heard about Cape York about several of you and planned to make it back to Australia to do such trips.

I will be Dep. the US on 18 Jun and flying to Melbourne about the Qantas Airbus A-380-800. I booked a flight on her last year, but this was in the height of the recession and they switched the flight from the A-380 to a B-747-400.

I Arrive in Melbourne, (had to switch from Brisbane to save $$'s) and then up to Cairns. I will meet with my Mate and head out in his Land Cruiser 105 (sorry, no Prado). We will outfit the Land Cruiser and with other "new friend"s' and head off into the the cape. I can't state why i'm going, but it will become clear when I come back.

I will check layovers to see if I can meet up with anyone.

I know Team WA is heading out there in July, but will anyone else be there?

Well, I was able to switch the departing flight from Melbourne to Brisbane, so Team Simpson can meet up again. I admit it probably will be at an airport bar, but still not bad for being on the far side of the world.

hi ben ,just wondering why you would fly to one end of the country then drive to the other end when you could have landed half way unless you are meeting friends? cheers warwick.
