Advise you to get the Victoria Deserts Map put put by Meridian ( The Melbourne Map centre will have it )
It shows all the tracks you can take on that route.
You could do the Border Track, of course, but certain parts of that you were only allowed to run North -South.

An interesting trip with a fair bit of offroad is to travel North from Nhill To Lake Albacutya, traverse Wyperfeld NP via North South Tk, Eagle Tks, Gunners Tks, and then hop over the Mallee Hwy into Murray Sunset NP. go up via Mopoke Tk through to the northern side and then on to Mildura.

All the camping spots re marked on the map I spoke about.

Take plenty of water and let your tyres down. It's also wise have some sort of emergency comms device like a EPIRB or sat phone.
    Cheers, Wayne

I'm still not sure where this "mail run" goes.

The route I described, you could do it easily in three days, but if you want to look around a bit and take side trips to the Snowdrift, Pink Lakes etc, and generally soak up the atmosphere of the desert country, then maybe a day or two more would be good.

There is the Old Mail Route track between Wentworth and Remark. Not sure of any other around that way. There was a write up about it in a recent issue of 4WD Action. Here is a link to a trip a couple of fellas did on bikes through the area. I think there is a GPS track as well which might help:
