Hi there. My girlfriend and I are planning a trip around the pilbara late august. We will be following track notes from ExplorOz (Paraburdoo to Murchison reversed) then will look around Karijini, before making our way to Exmouth. We are not very keen on hwy's and as this is out first time in that area dont know the good spots to look for. Was wondering on your two cents worth of things to see and possible routs to Exmouth from Karijin. Any info would be great thank you all

Not sure about alternatives for the exmouth to karijini leg, but we took the murchison -mt augustus leg up to karijini which i would def recommend

Re: TOM PRICE TO EXMOUTH
I went up that way in may - and it was still hot like 38 - 42 so hopefully you'll have it cooler.
Lyndon road will take you from exmouth to Mt augustus without having to go via canarvon. Another shortcut is burkett road bitumen between exmouth and the NWC Hwy -
Tom price to karratha using the railway access road requires a permit need to watch a 20 minute dvd and fill in application form, get it from Tom price tourist info centre - its sandy in places and through the ranges can be rough with corrogations
Millstream near the homestead is spectacular i stayed at the generator site and wish I had stayed one more night.
Python pool is currently looking very sad, no summertime rain so water is very low and algae bllom was present - no swimming either plus area has been burnt out by bushfire
On canarvon to mullewa road look out for:
Bilung pool - road north of here to Dairy creek road is rough with large rocks to dodge around keep speed down to 40 at times and you'll be OK
Errabiddy bluff (just north of murchison)
Numerous watering troughs most have been restored
sign saying storm damage - not sure what it means but I suspect its where a tornado touched down and wiped out all the trees - just drove past it so I'm curious to know what its all about
Pm me if you want further info
Cheers

Think i said "fantastic" not frantic but yes, you could always do with more time, particularly if you are going to spend more time on the coast side, I think we had plenty of time in karijini itself but there is so much more around the area you could see if you had time (millstream/rudall river etc etc)
I dont think there is a right or wrong answer here, if you've got more time, take it, if you dont, it can be done in 2 weeks, just accept you may miss some things!2002 Grande (Gold), TJM bullbar, Safari Snorkel, BFG A/Ts, Lightforce 170s, 2inch lift (Kings and Raw)

Re: TOM PRICE TO EXMOUTH
Have to agree with 90's sentiments there if you have more time take it.
I found 3 weeks I got to where I wanted but a 4th week would have allowed more time at certain places esp karajini & millstream NP2008 GX turbo diesel auto 5sp Fitted: snorkel dual battery kit kaymar twin wheel carrier Evenutally fitted: Bullbar VHF & UHF radios, storage system Still to come: winning lotto number to pay the blessed thing off set of decent side steps/rock sliders
