  • Ormeau closed at watertank entrance

A mate in his GU and myself in the Prado went to Ormeau via water tank entance this morning so we could test out the new OME suspension. There is now a sign telling you that past this point is now a work site and no un-authorised entry on to work site.
We turned round and entered via the entrance on Old Ormeau road.
Not sure if they have blocked it off completely or because it is a weekday with the workers there. Weekends may still allow you to enter the tracks, not sure.
    Anyone know?
By the way, the suspension is awesome, and I didnt hit the bottom once.
Bash plates may last longer now... hehe 8)
    Overall happy.
    cheers
    Les

      G'day all,

Anybody know if this is still a restricted entrance or was it only whilst earthworks were on?

Well it's finally happened.... Ormeau has now been gated off. I went for a drive this morning to see for myself and found the Vennor Rd entrance Gated and locked. I then tried entering via Cliff Barron drive (halfway mark along the track) and found it locked out also. The Upper Ormeau entrance had no gate at the entrance, however I was in my work car and didnt want to venture too far due to the rain. I dare say there is a gate further down the track as I have heard that it will be locked off also...

Funnily enough, the Vennor Rd gate has a CityView 4wd park sign on it offering the closest legal 4wd play area in SEQ.... Nice one!

So who was it who said Campbell Newman was going to open areas up?
Ok, I now drive an FJ Cruiser but did have an 90 series Prado for 11 years and before that, 4Runners from 1985.

Whats the reason for this area being gated off?

Greenies, politicians and big business (read extractive quarries like they are doing the area a favour!)

If the Greenies had as much power as Roothy and others give them, they would be controlling the world.

Seriously, its not greenies at all, its just governments of all persuasions cutting costs and the easiest way to do that is to lock things up. There is a Liberal government in both Qld and NSW who have no ties to the greenies - recognise the problem for what it is and perhaps there may be better solutions.

Blaming a "generic group" who don't have any control is playing into the hands of the government leaders/departments.

You're right. Warragamba dam has been off limits to everyone for years because anyone venturing near might make the water dirty. Suddenly its ok to put coal seam gas wells all around it.
