  • SPECS FOR 95 COMPARED TO 99

    Hi,

Does any body know if a bullbar and sidesteps from a 95 will fit a 99. To my knowledge there the same shape and body specs.

    Thanx

    Randy,

Not sure what brand you are refereing to but on the ARB site if you customise to suit the different vehicles it tells you what is available for major items. For the bars for 1996 - 2000 they are all the same. Then they have 2000 to 2003 as different bars for the 90 series

For the 1996 - 2000 builds they have the following bars available:

    3421010 - Deluxe winch bar
    3921130 - Sahara bar

Unfortunatley they have not made the fitting instructions available for the earlyier models but they have for the 2000 - 2003 bars.

So based on the above you shouldn't have any issues if you are fitting an ARB bar between the two unless the later model has air bags (but I don't think that air bags where available then :?: ). The reason I mention air bags is the 3421010 bar is clearly listed as NOT being compatible with airbags. Would assume the side steps is a non issue as well.

Air bags were available back in 96, it just depended on what level of equipment you had. The RV, RV6 and GXL did not have the airbags as standard, they were an option, The Grande and VX Grande had dual air bags standard. This is why there are bull bars out there that are not air bag compatable, and on the bull bar topic, I have a Sahara bull bar from a 2002 model on my 97 model, they fit well, the only difference is the later models had the horizontal grill, which stuck out about 40mm further at the bottom, so all I have at the bottom of my grill is a little gap between it and the bar.
97 VX Grande, with front & rear air lockers, ARB Sahara winch bar with tigers 11 winch, 2" EFS lift, 265/75/16 Achilles Desert hawk XMT, and more.

Thankyou. Do you know by chance how much has to be removed to fit the bar. So far I've removed the bumper

From memory, thats about it, you then put the brackets/mounts onto the vehicle, then attach the bar to the mounts, adjust the height of the bar so as it is even and level, then tighten up the bolts, you then need to connect the aux turn indicators and park lights, the best way to do that is turn on your park lights and hazard lights and find the right wires.

Ive fitted the later model deluxe bullbar to my early prado. Itll fit ok but you will have a gap underneath the headlights and the grill.. Just paint underneath the headlights and grill with matt black. PM if you wanna find out more.
