Good quality brush on is the go . Any reasonable camping store or canvas place will have a range of good stuff. Birkmyre used to be the go and worked well but I don't know if it is still available. Neil

      Re: rewaterproofing canvas

What type of canvas is it, as some you can just give it a good soaking of water to plump up the fibres, and stitching, this will stop the water seeping through.

            Re: rewaterproofing canvas

I used the brush on waterproofing on an old camper trailer canvas it worked fine.
It came in a 5LT container like oil comes in, but it looked just like a watered down runny white aquadhere wood glue.
I used a wide brush to apply it but it said you could use a roller to do it as well.
Got it from down under camping.

                Re: rewaterproofing canvas

The best stuff to use is Thomsons Water Seal. This is primarily used to waterproof concreting but also waterproofs canvas (read the label). This comes in 1 and 4 litre containers. You can purchase from Bunnings. This can be brushed on with an old paint brush. Works great and is relatively cheap, $25 for 1 litre and much cheaper (per litre) in 4 litre containers.

I second this is true every time a camp with Samo is announced its either rain or galeforce winds or both...
its like he is followed by a small portable thunderstorm.....  I can see why the awning has just given up .......there may be a reason its called "open Sky"

The spray on by Joseph Lyddy (the guy who makes dubbin waterproofer for boots) is really good stuff a tin costs $16 but it will do a small tent easily and if allowed to dry properly it works well on a smaller area. it is also available in a brush on version (1L and 4L tin) i have heard good things but havent tried the brush on personally.

I've rewaterproofed a couple of tarps over the years and I found if you lay the tarp out in the sun to warm it up the waterproofing will flow better and it will penertrate the canvas better as well
