  • Access to Blacksmith Beach NSW

    Hi ALl,
Going to Budgewoi this weekend, wanting to find somewhere to 4wd. Doesn anybody know if you can still drive on Blacksmith Beach, if so, where is the best access road. Been to stockton recently, if anyone has any other ideas that are close while I am there your feedback will be appreciated.

Re: Access to Blacksmith Beach NSW

Hi Milti a few spots where you can get on the beach. The first one is at awabakal st blacksmiths. timber treads over dune but be aware beach is very soft and i wouldnt head near or below the high water line. there are usually tracks through the dunes heading north but i havnt been down the south end recently. next access is at beach st belmont sth. this is a good access but there can be a massive puddle to cross. the northern access is on the bend at the beginning of kalaroo rd jewels. good access from here as well. again beach is very soft. i always have tyres at 15psi and rarely have trouble. the council are considering a permit system but none required at the moment. it can get busy on the beach thru summer or a hot day. enjoy

the easiest access to blackies is turn at the belmont south lights and follow the road about 1km till you hit the gravel then its only a few 100m till you hit the sand, this would be one of the softest beaches around 15psi is a good start, also be careful around 3rd creek, up near redhead its another soft area. there are a couple of good areas for a play up 3/4 the way up the beach, you will have to climb over the dues to get to the old sand quarry, some good hillclimbs and stuffin here to keep you amused. cheers samo

        Hi guys,
Thanks for your feedback, the puddle sounds fun & I will certainly be trying this out, thanks for the advice on tyre pressures too, probably would have started a little higher had I not known, hopefully I am not the only one there if I do play and get into trouble.
        Cheers J
