  • New vehicle - new gear?????

    Advice please...
When you upgrade the vehicle, do you scavenge your old rig and take all your 'bits'n'pieces' onto the next vehicle or use the changeover to upgrade your gear?

I like to get all new gear. I even go to the extent of ordering replacement Personlised Plates so it is all fresh!!!

You'll never profit from the selling a vehicle with upgrades and gear. I strip off what I can use - it'll still sell around the same and i'll save money on the new project.

I took 8 grands worth of gear of my old Prado before trading it as it only added 1500 bucks to the change over price.

            Cheers Andrew

              3 x IPF HID = $2700 RRP

They wont give you that with the trade in price - but the floor managers old truck out the back will get a good upgrade I bet.

scavenge your good bits - I am sure SWMBO will be a little nicer to you in the long run.

Unless you're planning on upgrading the accessories or they wont fit the new vehicle I can't see why you would sell them with the old vehicle and get 10%-15% of their replacement value then go a buy new ones. I've got one air compressor that has been fitted to four different 4WDs and is still going strong. My policy is to but good quality accessories/equipment and hang onto to them.

Re: New vehicle - new gear?????

A friend has just sold his late 2009 Grande 120 and traded upto a 200 Sahara. They have a BIG van and the Prado was underpowered for it.

He sent me an email bout a week ago with a list of goodies for sales which covered tyres and rims (extra set), dual battery, UHF, sliders, bashplates, drawers, cargo barrier, turbo timer, electronic brake controller, and a whole heap more. I'm not surpised he stripped it down but I am surpised that he is not refitting any of it.
