  • Batteries

OK I am going out of my mind here.
Its time to replace the battery in my Diesel 120 and I want something good around the $200 mark (funds a little tight), been looking at Calcium King, Century and SuperCharge.

I am also looking for an allrounder to go in the camper trailer. I'd like to it to be around the 100ah and I can't go over $250 for it, been looking at the same brands once again

Any one got some advice before my hair turns completely grey?

    Cheers
    Andrew

$200, your pushing it a bit if you want a good battery for your diesel. About a month ago I had to replace the battery on my 95 series Prado V6, I wanted something with good CCA but still fits into the battery tray, in the end I got the new technology (just come out, dont get confused with the older tech ones, the new tech ones have a flat top, where the top up caps are recessed into the battery under a flap, the old ones are raised and exposed), century batteries, what they have done is basically rebuild the inners so they stop vibration (this is the big killer of batteries), made the plates thicker, and a few other things. It is still the same size as the old battery but the CCA has risen, it now has 680CCA with about 100CCA in reserve, so that I can still start the motor if the battery is very low. Now 100CCA is just enough to start a Petrol engine, but nowhere near enough to start a Diesel. This battery cost me $250, the next size up, was just over $300, and it has from memory 720CCA (I could be wrong), I'm not too sure how much it has in reserve though. The battery that I got will more than cope with a diesel engine, but the reserve will not. You will need to do your research on the web, and work out which battery is best for you.

For $200 you could get one of these for the car, i put one in my 120.

For the camper trailer go an AGM battery as you can use nearly all the AH value versus only around half of a lead acid batteries capacity. For $200-250 you will get a decent 75ah AGM battery, possibly even 100ah if you can find a good deal.

Thats the old style battery, as it has the raised exposed vents/maintenance ports. It is also the next size up, the new tech ones have more CCA for the same size bat.

              Nice , good find and awesome price, $162 for a N70ZZ4WD !

BTW also for Adelaidians, home of 12v will do a 75ah AGM for $200 pick up and cash , they are usually $225 with free postage oz wide but took the $200 offer.

No worries, I got some some marine batteries for the boat from them, each battery was $100 cheaper than anywhere else!
They also have the ctek chargers at much better prices than anywhere else I looked too and they are nice blokes to boot.
