Howdy to all,
Have been a PP member less than 12 months with a whole 20 posts. Brought Prado last year around same time as joining. As williade said "paid membership is a great deterrent" and unfortunately it is.
If when joining PP it asked me for "$5, $10, $50" what ever, I don't know that i would have joined.
Having said that I have found this site invaluable for info and would be more than happy to "pay or contribute" in one way or another.
But when you look at the calibre of people who do most of the contributions to this forum it's hard for "average joe blow" to find or do something that hasn't been done.
What i have found great is that people who don't even know each other do stuff to help others out and that my PP friends is the "Australian Way"
If i have to pay to be part of this great site show me where to pay, but as NTP said "Don't try and fix something that aint broke"

I'm thinking if this thread is going down the paid membership topic, I'll close it... It's been coveted 2 or 3 times previously and was stopped dead all times...

If were asking for membership over guests, then it's interesting, but again it was tried in the lead up to the forum upgrade. For the most part, it caused more members, more repeated (dare I say stupid) threads that contributing members got sick of answering and moderators got sick of locking...

As some have already pointed out, this seems to work... Getting a good benefit from both sides!

Just keep the personal details and number plate photos to a minimum, never know who's looking - member or not!!!

Close it Matty, another thing you can do for free before I get into trouble lol.

The topic is members v guests but I guess the pay v free angle is intertwined.

I will watch the supplier tab with interest though. If I was advising a business in the current situation the advice would be pretty easy.

Hi Everyone,

There will never be in the foreseeable future a paid membership model.

Leaving the forum open to view means we get more search traffic which means more people. Some will contribute, some won't.

Vbulletin has a membership option that removes ads which we may explore.

The supplier section will generate revenue and the ads will do the same.

As far as I'm concerned, that's sufficient.

Let's not revisit it all again.
