Woodvale, Kingsley, edgewater, joondalup, all decent all NOR and 20ks from CBD. Or Iluka, hillarys, burns beach etc if you want closer to the beach but more expensive. All have good shops near by good schools close to public transport.

My step sister & her family moved to Sawyers Valley west of Perth a few years ago. Apparently the Mundaring power lines track is very close to them which is a popular 4wd destination. They are on acres...not sure if that is what you're looking for but they absolutely love it there.
She was back here in good 'ole western Sydney just last week & was good to catch up with her but there is no way she & the family would ever come back here to live

Check out Bridgetown in the south-west, it's got some good amenities for a small country town and set amongst some rolling hills only an hour from the coast and bigger shopping centres. But i'm probably biased!
