  • Preferred UHF Channel

I read in another post recently that some of us use ch16. I know here in SA ch10 seems to be the preferred channel. What do others use day to day and on trips.

    Me:
Day to day: ch10 if I turn it on.
    Trips: ch10

We ran a poll a few years ago as so many of us were travelling far and wide...
      Here's the thread

      http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...nt-UHF-Channel

Channel 16 was chosen as the national call channel for PP so if you pass a PP'er on the road jump straight to 16 and try raising them there.

... and here's the final poll that resulted in CH16 being chosen.

I use ch 40 for everyday travel, and any other channel for 4wding, if that channel get lots of others or you find a wa*ker talking crap or just playing music, the group will change to a predetermined channel by someone saying a specific code, that way the wa*ker doesn't follow.

I hear you Crooza. That's the main reason I tend to avoid having the uhf on in the city. Too many dipsticks ruining it.

Not sure about switching to 16 when passing a PPer, this requires both to see each other so expect it rarely works. Given most 4x4 sit on ch10 that's wear I'm leaving mine for the meantime.

Can't say that I often turn mine on while in the city, as there seems to be a few w*nkers about using language that not even I know...

But if it is on, then its mostly on ch10 on the rare chance that its not then its scanning!!!

Chan 10 for me if wanting to talk to other 4WDr's.......but when I go with my mates we use 14.

Heading on a Simmo trip in about 2 weeks, so will probably use 10 for that.

Too many wankers on Chan 40...although I do use that if I am going down a busy highway like the Bruce or the Pacific as it's great to know what's around the corner......but I can't take it for any more than a few hours.

I float around a lot of channels. Depends where you are and who else is around. Channel 16 is usually good when travelling aroound major road workds as the guys often use 16 and you get to hear a bit about what is going on and sometimes what the traffic is doing. I rarely sit in channel 10 as there is too much blah blah and crap talk on there. For trips would use 16 and up but tend to just agree on the day to a channel that avoids other noise traffic.

I mostly use my car as a tug for the caravan. Like some of the others I turn the radio of in the cities due to the wa*kers and bad language. When on the highway I stay on 40. Truckles keep you in touch with the road conditions, traffic and location of the boys in blue. They also call me when they want to pass.
                  Regards Cyclone.
