I do automotive recruitment and I deal with many Toyota dealers. Some of the dealers cant keep up with the orders. I know one dealer in Emerald in Queensland has a customer that has told them as soon as a replacement for the current demo comes through to give him a call and he will bring in a cheque for the car and take it on the spot.
I have looked over it and it looks good in some ways and not so in others. The dash is very confronting, the rear sets uncomfortable, the towing capacity not quite as good, visibility ok.
I like the look of it, but I have done too much to my Prado with accessories etc to look at changing over. If the FJ came with a tricked up pack, ie raised, better suspension, bullbar with spotties, better tyres etc then I would definitely go for it!

WOW! I'm glad I own one. BTW. did you know its a Prado? Everything about it except the body.
I think its an exceptional vehicle down to the styling. It has a more rugged appearance and more functunality as an off road vehicle. high sills, high clearance, good approach; peak; & departure angles, low body with plenty of headroom, it comes standard with A-Trac @ a rear locker to get you out of sticky situations and is a lot more capable than a prado with its short wheel base and can handle almost anything thrown at it.

good to hear FlyNdrive,
I have 2 little girls so i am hoping the rear seats will suit them for a few years if i decide to purchase one. What are your comments regarding the back seats?
i took one for a test drive and happy to see they feel very similar if not identical to my Prado
the only other downside i can see is that the cargo area is smaller than a Prado but still adequate i think.

It comes standard with 265/70/17, sits higher standard than the Prado, better approach and departure angle and as far as tricks go you get a factory warranted rear locking diff. Very good value in my opinion, though i had a choice and still went the 150.

I guess if you have the money for a new Prado you would do it over the FJ for sure.
But for 50K to get a new FJ compared to a 3 year old Prado its hard to pass up.
Once you see them tricked up in person or even check out the FJ Bruisers you can really see the potential of the FJ. As FlyNDrive stated they are basically a Prado. I bought the 150 for the 7 seats but if I had some spare cash for a play vehicle I would definately look at one.
If you have any ideas on how to mod PM me I know the FJ-C like the back of my hand. I have also been through 5 roof racks, 3 bumpers, 3 sets of wheels, 3 sets of tyres, 4 rear bumpers, 3 sets of sliders, 3 sets of lighting and other items. I have weeded out poor items for the real deal. Most of the good parts are made in OZ.

It depends on what you want. If you are taking to the mall or to the beach the Toyo rack is fine. My pick is the BajaRack, but I'm now aware of anywhere that sells them in the US.
I got rid of my ARB because it was extremely heavy. I'm wondering if Front Runner has a wind Cheetah for it. I think they only weigh about 20 kilos. Ask LF&R bout his.
